Construction equipment is the machinery used to build roads, buildings and infrastructure. Common types include backhoe loaders, excavators, bulldozers, motor graders, wheel loaders, rollers and cranes. Each is designed for a specific job, from digging and loading to levelling and compacting.
Earthmoving equipment digs, moves, levels and shapes soil and rock. Backhoe loaders, excavators, bulldozers and motor graders all fall in this group. Mahindra's EarthMaster and RoadMaster ranges are earthmoving machines.
Road building typically uses a dozer or ripper to break and move material, a motor grader to level and shape it, and a roller to compact it before paving. A backhoe loader helps with trenches, drainage and small loading work along the way.
A backhoe loader digs and loads, so it suits trenches, foundations and loading tippers. A motor grader levels and shapes surfaces with a long blade, so it suits road building and finishing. They often work on the same project at different stages.
A wheel loader has a large front bucket for fast, high-volume loading but cannot dig. A backhoe loader has a smaller loader bucket and a rear digging arm, so it can dig and load. Choose a wheel loader for bulk material handling and a backhoe loader for mixed work.
Both measure engine power. One horsepower is about 0.746 kilowatts, so 74 HP is about 55 kW. Indian spec sheets often list both, and Mahindra lists its 74 HP engines as 55 kW.
