Frequently Asked Questions About the Mahindra EarthMaster SXL Backhoe Loader

Answers to the most common questions about Mahindra Backhoe Loaders, specifications, technology, on-site support and warranty.

The EarthMaster SXL is Mahindra's loader only machine, powered by a 74 HP CRDI Mahindra NEF 3.5 litre engine with 4WD. It combines high loader productivity, a 1.1 m³ loader bucket and a 0.27 m³ backhoe bucket with a faster top speed than other EarthMaster models.

The SXL has a 4-cylinder, 3,532 cc turbocharged intercooled Mahindra engine producing 74 HP at 2,200 rpm. Peak gross torque is 400 Nm in the 1,200 to 1,500 rpm range. It uses a Carraro synchromesh synchro shuttle transmission with four forward and four reverse gears.

The SXL loader has a 1.1 m³ shovel, a payload of 1,800 kg, a bucket breakout force of 6,243 kgf and a loader arm breakout force of 5,594 kgf. Dump height is 2,712 mm with the standard bucket and 2,798 mm with the optional 6-in-1 bucket.

Fourth gear reaches 38.37 km/h forward and 39.97 km/h in reverse. First gear is 5.43 km/h forward, second 8.84 km/h and third 19.20 km/h. Higher travel speed helps when moving between work areas on large sites.

The SXL has an open-centre hydraulic system with a 52 cm³ gear pump delivering 117 litres per minute at 2,250 rpm, and a system pressure of 250 bar. The hydraulic oil change interval is 3,000 hours, which keeps per-hour running costs down.

With the standard bucket, overall length is 5,972 mm, width over bucket is 2,404 mm and wheelbase is 2,176 mm. Front axle ground clearance is 350 mm. Operating weight is 7,579 kg with the standard bucket and 7,710 kg with the 6-in-1 bucket. Fuel tank capacity is 140 litres.

The EarthMaster SXL comes with a 1 year warranty. Standard exclusions apply, so ask your dealer for the full terms. Service is available through Mahindra's authorised service centres, with genuine parts and attachments.
