FAQs

Motor Graders, which are also called road graders or graders, are necessary equipment at any construction site. They are self-propelled machines with an adjustable blade. They typically have three axles with the engine and cab situated above the rear axles at one end of the vehicle and a third axle at the front end of the vehicle with the blade in between.

  • • They can be used for making smoother surfaces, fine grade, levelling soil and shifting small amounts of dirt.
  • • The most traditional use of this CE is in the construction and maintenance of roads with its main function being preparing the topmost layer for laying asphalt on top of it.
  • • Motor graders are also used for removal of snow, debris, and earth-moving purposes.
  • • Graders are also used to set native soil foundation pads to finish grade prior to the construction of large buildings.
  • • The motor graders also ensure that the compactor is effectively used with minimum load on it.

The motor grader should suit its application and should be optimal to the cost of the project. If the project is for big expressways, the required grader is of higher HP and more torque. It has bigger blades as per the job requirement. Getting the same machine for smaller roads is not a viable option. Smaller road projects require small machines, which is suitable for the overall budget. There is no best machine as per ranking in case of motor graders. The grader which is optimal as per the size of road is the best grader.

Motor graders usually come with a long metal blade hinged at one end. While some graders have a long metal arm attached to the hinged end, others have a short blade and a long metal arm. Motor graders can be segmented into classes based on the size of their blades. Most modern graders can be classified as “small,” “medium,” or “large.”
